in Dinner, Lunch, Thoughts

Life has gone into overdrive. I’m loving it, but seriously…I’ve done so much in the last week! Let’s rewind, shall we?

First I must mention that I met Gina last week for yoga twice, and I love her just as much in person as I do on her blog! I didn’t get a chance to blog about daily life last week, but that was definitely notable and I didn’t want to forget to mention something notable! ;-)

I last caught up with you a week ago when I announced my two new jobs that were off to a running start. My job at lululemon started on Wednesday and my job at Bondi Band started on Thursday! I traveled to St. Louis on Thursday for the Go! St. Louis Expo. I loved traveling to St. Louis and more than anything, loved this view from the window of my hotel room.

Food was definitely an issue, but luckily I found a cute little Thai place right down the street from where I was staying. I got a tofu veggie curry dish with brown rice.

I only went there once because I got back to the hotel after dark the other two nights I was in St. Louis and stuck to food I could find at the hotel. I had some pasta Friday night and cheese-less pizza on Saturday night from a restaurant called Red. All breakfasts were Starbucks Perfect Oatmeals and lunch was leftover Thai on Friday and this amazing veggie burger with carrot sticks that Sara brought me on Saturday.

I was so lucky to be able to meet both Sara and Sam this weekend in St. Louis. I love meeting new people through G4G! Sam was so nice to visit me on Friday and chat for a bit in between customers, and Sara was so sweet for offering to bring lunch from her favorite vegan-friendly place in St. Louis. We’d never met before, so this was incredibly generous of her. And the burger was absolutely perfect!

I didn’t get home until Sunday morning, at which point Evan picked me up from the airport and we immediately set off to look for a new home to sign a lease for. No stopping at home, no changing or showering after already being awake for 7 hours at that point. We were on a serious mission, with a goal to find a home we love, in a great location, for a price close to what we’re paying now in our apartment.

And guess what? We found it and signed our lease! It’s funny because we looked at this home over one month ago, loved how it looked from the outside, agreed that the location was exactly what we wanted, but figured it was too early to pursue it. The property manager didn’t advertise it too much over the last month and we thought it had been rented already. Low and behold, it was still available when we were ready to take a look, and we didn’t waste a second jumping at the opportunity.

We’re walking distance from my favorite yoga studio, a grocery store, and some of our favorite restaurants. We’ve upgraded from a 2/1 apartment to a 3/2 house (with a backyard!), and while the house is much older and the appliances and kitchen are not as new as our current situation, neither of us really care. It just felt perfect!

Now it’s time to to start packing up our lives, purging things from college that we kept in transition from graduating, and moving in on May 1st! Cannot WAIT to get out of here and settled into a new place!

I’m off to work for the evening! How has your month been going?

That all is fantastic news, I’m so glad you have so many things to focus on! Getting into a new place is always exciting, especially since it’s a house that you can make feel like home. And congrats on your new jobs, that’s exciting!
I’m in the process of deciding what to do about grad school, and just recently moved in with my boyfriend as well. So far this month has been pretty good :)

Yay for an update! Looks like things are crazy but good for you! Congrats on finding a house to rent. I just went through that a few months back with my husband. It was really tough! We are in a FABulous location 3 blocks from one of the best parks in Denver. The layout of the house is great but it’s old and in pretty bad condition. All of the rental properties in Denver seem to be a bit run down and there were not many other options. We’ve definitely gotten used to it though! I can imagine that traveling and finding vegan food can be challenging sometimes. My month has been going okay..things are a bit stressful job wise for both of us. I just got a part time job with whole foods though, which is good…but we’re still trying to bounce back from the crappy economy. Neither of us can find jobs in our professions [architecture + engineering]. Anyway, I better wrap this up! :)

My month has been BUSY! Between traveling, marathon training, and unexpected dinners and drop-ins from friends… yeesh. I can’t complain because life is great! I’d rather it be busy and great then slow and sucky.

Can’t wait until you get into town for the Derby Marathon! You’re going to love Louisville! It’s a pretty fun place!! You have to go eat at Toast on Market and Blue Dog Bakery while you’re here. And Seviche if you get time for a nice dinner. You won’t be disappointed!!

Just discovered your blog and can’t wait to read more. I read some of your recent postings and was in tears reading about your cat’s passing. I’m a devoted mother of two kitty babies and I honestly couldn’t imagine loving a real baby more than I love them. Stay strong!
