Trying Not to Overdo It

Sounds like most of you want to see what I eat everyday. I’ll try my hardest!

Evan and I got up early this morning and drank smoothies for breakfast! He made a green smoothie and I made a…brown smoothie.

I took Kristen’s Cherry Chocolate Bomb Shake recipe and added tons of spinach to it!

The only difference between adding spinach and not adding spinach is the color.

Yet another gleaming example of how green smoothies don’t taste like spinach at all! I swear I couldn’t tell there was spinach in this. AND, it looks like a chocolate milk shake so I bet if you have kids (or reluctant significant others), you could trick them too.

As soon as I woke up this morning I had the urge to go to the gym. I have plans for power yoga with Ashley tonight and I didn’t want to overdo it today. I even tweeted about it…

Then I found out Caitlin was going to the pool and I decided that would be the perfect workout to keep from overdoing it. I purposely left my running shoes at home so I wouldn’t feel the urge to hop on the treadmill after the swim. I literally had to dart my eyes away from them as I walked to the locker room. Haha.

Swimming is more of a relaxing workout for me, so it wasn’t too hard to take it easy. I really have to make an extra effort in order to wear myself out (i.e. lots of meters and high intensity). Obviously I didn’t want to do that this morning. Here’s what I did instead:

  • 500 meter freestyle warm-up
  • 300m kick with kickboard
  • 200m pull with pull buoy
  • 300m backstroke
  • 200m breaststroke
  • 300m high-elbow drills
  • 200m warmdown

Total = 2000 meters

It was a great swim and I felt really strong the whole time! Plus I got to swim side by side with this lovely lady who is doing an incredible job training for her upcoming Olympic Distance Triathlon.

When I got home from the pool, I quickly showered and downed a bowl of chia pudding that was puffing up while I was in the shower.

And now I’m off to the vet with Harvey. We think he might have an ear infection since his balance is way off and he doesn’t want us to touch his ears.

Do you work out twice a day? Ever worry about overdoing it?

Have a great day!

I work out twice a day pretty frequently, but that’s a matter of listening to my body. I really enjoy being active so once a day just wouldn’t work for me. But it’s also usually one low key and one more intense workout.

Yeahh smoothies!

i typically work out 3 times a day, but i’ve built up to it over the last couple of years so i’m not too worried about overdoing it. this week, i’m doing an iron week – all the ironman distances inside of a week. it’s nuts.

I used to overexercise and not fuel myself so sometimes I do worry about it, but I think it’s a matter of just fueling yourself enough and listening to your body. Because I walk so much for my everyday errands, I have to take that into consideration when most people drive, but at the same time, I’m eating yummy food and getting nice clean air :) Always just a balance and making sure you’re doing it in a healthy way.

I am literally addicted to exercise now that I have a gym membership. Everyday I take a fitness class and depending on the intensity, I will do some treadmill and ab work also. I just love how it makes me feel, plus I am getting a rocking bod. ;)
